Game Info
The basis of this prototype is to stealthily cause damage to the frat house before the party gets busted. The quota is how much destruction you must cause in order to get the frat evicted. There is no timer implemented at the moment, but the idea is that the police show up when your timer runs out, and if you've caused enough damage by then, you win. The game would be a repeating loop, NPCs and events would happen on a set interval. You would need to play through multiple loops in order to learn these patterns and use them to your advantage. There are small breakable objects that boost your score, but there are also bigger, more complex puzzles ultimately lead to more destruction (and points by extension).
Misc.
This prototype was a group effort. The game concept, name, and basic mechanics were some of my contributions. Since this was my concept I felt responsible for its quality, and I ended up taking on a lot of the work. Some of the other main contributions made by me are:
- Map creation
- Door Scripting
- Interaction for all objects and NPCs
- Puzzle Logic/ Implementation
- Overall gameplay/ game flow (Game Manager/Game State)
- Dialogue
- Dialogue manager/ Dialogue UI (non-menu)
- Player controls, movement, and animation
- Overall implementation and bug fixing
Reflection
Overall, I am happy with this prototype. I think it represents the idea for the game well. I also think it is representative of the core gameplay loop, even though you have to simulate it by closing and reopening the game to reset the puzzle. I think the prototypes has shown that this idea has potential and the idea can definitely be fun. I think if I could change anything, I would give the NPCs more of a routine instead of having them just kind of turn randomly. If I were to continue with the idea, that would be one of the things I would implement. I would also make NPCs that roam around instead of being stationary. I would also implement the timer/ looping day, and I'd expand the scope of the game overall.
